Summary
The commercial estimator is a professional with a strong understanding of customer needs, playing a key role in our team and contributing to the development of our overall cost strategy and execution plan.
Role and Responsibilities
- Participates in full cycle preparation of tender submissions, pre-construction design\build proposals, project budgets and project schedules for review by the respective manager
- Consults and communicates with the key members of the builder’s team, including estimators, engineers, architects and project managers to formulate job estimates.
- Assists in continuous improvement of bidding strategies and techniques
- Organizes, manages and maintains cost estimating information; follows formal process for identifying and resolving cost variances; and provides recommendations to project management to reduce future cost variances
- Builds and maintains client, supplier/vendor and partner relationships
- Assists the Project Management team (when in need) with change order pricing, submittals and initial project start-up
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in commercial drywall estimating
- 5-7 years in the drywall industry, including hands on field experience
- In depth knowledge of steel stud framing, insulation, drywall, taping and acoustical ceilings
- Capacity to read, interpret and analyze blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Some supervisory or management experience on commercial projects
- Track record of successfully completing projects as an estimator or project manager
- Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software and systems

Summary
Empire Drywall is looking for a project manager with enough experience to successfully execute projects in commercial construction. They will take ownership of all stages of the project; from working closely with the estimator at bidding stage, to submitting final documents and completing warranty work at the end of the job, the project manager will manage all facets of project. The project manager is expected to complete projects at or under budget, to a high level of quality and on schedule.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist with estimation and job procurement
- Manage schedule, manpower and site coordination
- Prepare and negotiate contract revisions, change orders and site extras with clients
- Diligently follow procedures for tracking extras and changes to scope
- Communicate with client regarding the project
- Hire, train, manage and direct operations team to assist in project execution
- Hold and attend meetings with operations team and/or clients
- Oversee quality control and safety on site
- Approve and submit sub-contractor invoices and employee time sheets
- Work closely with accounting team to ensure documentation is submitted on time
- Help prepare monthly progress billings
- Prepare and submit project close out documentation
- Take responsibility for the success of the project
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in commercial project management
- 7-10 years in the drywall industry, including hands on field experience
- In depth knowledge of steel stud framing, insulation, drywall, taping and acoustical ceilings
- Estimating experience on steel frame projects
- Track record of successfully completing projects
- Supervisory experience in managing people
- Intermediate computer skills and willingness to learn new software and systems
